Before the Epidemic Commission, Dr. MacKellar urged the desirability of a scheme to train women, in home nursing by attendance at the Hospital and the St .Helen’s Hospitals, which would be of special value in times of epidemics. Major Pettit, who had charge of the quarantine station, said thart, Motui hi Island could accommodate 110 to 120 patients. His opinion was that the present buildings were suitable for quarantine purposes.
