PUBLIC MEETING AT FOXTON. CHALLENGE TO EDUCATION BOARD’S CHAIRMAN, (Ter United Press Association.) FOXTON,' February 26. At a largely attended public meeting last night, toe Mayor presiding, toe School Committee's action in accepting the offer of a second-hand piano of German manufacture was discussed. At the conclusion the Committee’s action was endorsed, but it was urged to substitute a British instrument. The difference in price is to be subscribed by the public as promised by two committeemen. A petition calling upon the chairman of toe Committee to resign, was not endorsed. The chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, was asked to unreservedly withdraw his statement as to preferring an indecent picture in a school to a German piano, or to resign his position.
