PATRIOTIC CONCERT. ST. JOSEPH’S SCHOOL CHILDREN, JERUSALEM A highly successful concert, under the auspices of the local Ladies’ Committee of the Lady Liverpool Maori Soldiers’ Fund, was held in the large meeting house at Jerusalem, Wanganui River, on Tuesday, 24th inst. Some two hundred visitors from various parts of the district were in attendance, and the large audience was most enthusiastic in its appreciation of the excellent bill of fare provided. The native children, in hheir numerous and varied items of song and dance, gave a very creditable account of themselves, and reflected the highest praise on the able tuition given by the Sisters of Compassion. War dances by the men and poi dances bv the women were the contributions o"f the local adult natives. The concert was followed by a patriotic dance, in which a goodly number of pakehas also took part. The committee hopes to be , able to forward to the patriotic fund a very substantial sum. As notified by advertisement in another column, the annual smoke concert of the Aramoho Football Club will be held to-morrow evening in the A.B.C. Hall. This club’s annual re-union has always been most enjoyable in the past, and the committee hope this year to eclipse their previous efforts. Tickets (2/6) ■ may be obtained from club members.
