LABOUR DAY MOTOR GYMKANA, OCTOBER 22nd ,

One of the chief features of the motor gymkana on October 22ud Avill be the poster parade. There is a prize for the prettiest poster advertising a shop, and another for the most original. The following firms are taking part;— Messrs Kaganski, Cooper, Carrad and Hoavg, Fashionette Co., McGruer’s, Callaghan, Therkleson, Hean aad Co., Rees-Jones. Ambrose. Rice. T. E. Thomas and Co.. Purser and Co., Phillpotts. Gilbert, Ross, Di-gav, Spurdle, Jenness, Wallace, Bv.nvn, O’Hara, Sncior and Bennett, Tingey’s, Broadhead, Belby, Everybody’s and the Grand picture theatres. There is no limit to the number of entries, and it is hoped that manv more firms will enter this splendid advertising competition, and help to make the dav a suecess. There promises to be a fine display of floral decorations- Prizes axe to be given for best decorated dolls’ pram, children’s four-in-hand, children’s tandem, decorated pony, bicycle, tricycle, go-cart, perambulator, sunshade, button holes, table, boAvl of flowers, basket of flowfers. bouquet, and lady’s spray. The procession will lead off with the decorated motors, folloAved by the decorated bicycles, etc. The Butchers’ Union has also kindly consented to enter the procession, and last but not least comes the poster parade. In addition to the motor competitions, there are stalls of every variety, also Xmas tree, character reading, lightning portraits. Punch and Judy, and Fairy Linkabell. Mrs Clelland is organising a May Pole dance. There will aslo be brilliant half-hour entertainments by leading amateurs, assisted by College boys. Xll entries for the various competitions are to be sent in to Messrs Fairburn and Silk’s,. Victoria Avenue.
