THE OTAKI MEETING. (Per United Press Association.) OTAKI, September 24. The we-ather was fine but threatening for to-day's races. There was a fair attendance. Results were as follows: — .■„■■_ Maiden Plate. —Astrophel 1, Beaufort 2, Quinn's Post 3. Scratched: Sartoline, War Maid, March On,, and Lady Fermier. The winner led all the way and won by two lengths. Beaufort overhauled Quinn's Post 100 yards from the post and beat him by one length. Matilda was next. Dominion Day Handicap.—Lady Beaufort 1, Polynesian 2, Hastie 3. Scratched: Nobleman, Perrier, and Benope. A fine start and an excellent finish. Lady Beaufort won by a head. Polynesian and Hastie were locked together for second place. The winner, ridden by Gray, was cheered. - Steeplechase.—Coalition 1, Union Jack 2, Gaekwar 3. Scratched: Paremata, Aratiaha, and Te Mamuri. AH completed the course, but spreadbut spread-eagled after half a mite. Union Jack was prominent throughout. Won by two lengths, several lengths between second and third horses. Time, 4mln 48 l-6sec. Memorial Stakes. —Sleight of Hand 1, Lady Louisa 2, Orleans 3. Scratched Menelaus, Midnight Star, Master Moutoa, Alteration, Black Ada. Mascot and Rose Pink led most of the distance. Sleight of Hand, who was handy, led, half-way up th straight and won by a length. Time, 2min 15% sec. Stewards' Hack.—Bloomine 1, Perrier 2, Trickery 3. Scratched: Rylstone, Oraraua, Campaign, and Royal Reign. Won by a length and a half. The field raced together most of the distance. Time, lmin 18sec. Flying.—Merrie Poto 1, Sweet Tipperary 2, Bairnsdale 3. Scratched: Chakwana, Glenroy, Waimatoa, Orlean, Black Ada, Botanist, and Nobleman. Won by a length. Time, lmin 21sec.
