ENEMY LINES PIERCED IN ALSACE

A French communique states:—We continued a destructive fire on German organisations between St. Quentin and the Oise. The enemy replied in lively fashion. In the region south of St. Quentin we continued to progress eastward and south of the Oise, on the plateau bewteen Barisis and Quincy Bsase, find occupied a fresh enemy point d’appui. An artillery duel was violent throughout the night on the whole front, including the Soissons-Rheims front. After violent artillery preparation our detachments penetrated the enemy lines at several points in Lorraine and Alsace. Our detachments reached the enemy’s second line at six points on the plain in Alsace and inflicted serious losses.
