FINED £2O.

MILE "VENDOR IN TROUBLE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 15. Harry Jarvis, milk supplier, was charged at the Magistrate's Court today on two informations of having sold milk containing boron compound. The Crown Prosecutor asked for a heavy penalty, because the defendant had previously been convicted of adding water to milk. These prosecutions, he said, were becoming numerous, aud would be no effective deterrent unless heavy fines were imposed. The use of boron compound was very injurious to little children and babies. For the defence, Mr o'Regan stated that lie intended to plead guilty. The circumstances were that, owing to the shortage of water for cooling purposes during the dry weather, Jarvis placed a little carbonate of soda in the milk as a preservative. He had committed a breach quite unintentionally. The Magistrate took a serious view of the case, and imposed a penalty of .£2O with coste. An order was made that the conviction be advertised. .
