LOCAL AND GENERAL.

The 71h Regiment varied their course of camp training this afternoon by a march out, headed ,by the regimental band. The column, nearly a quarter of a mile long, and including machinegun and signal sections, created considerable interest a-s it marched through the streets. The Wanganui quota of the 28th Reinforcements—72 men, including a dozen from the Main Trunk districts—left by this afternoon's train, en route for training camp. The Main Trunk draft arrived by train shortly after 1 o'clock, and were escorted by the Queen's Park School bugle band to the Drill Hall. The men were entertained by the Patriotic Association at afternoon tea, and parcels were delivered to them by the Lady Liverpool, Committee. At 3.30 the vnhole quota paraded, and were escorted to the railway station by the Garrison Band and members of the National Reserve.
