CASTLECLIFF TOWN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. Tbe ordinary meeting of t&e Casfcieotiff Town Board was held on Tuesday, tbe chairman (Mr C. Cresswell) presiding. The following were aJteo present? Commissioners R. G. Firth, F. G\« Newcombe, J. H. Paesoaore, attd B* Dunkley. WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT. On the motion of Cmr. Passmora, eeo* onded by Cmr. Firth, ■ the Committee report, which contained the following, was adopted: In regard to the application of Messrs Beadle and McCarthy to hare the sandbank removed from the front of their sections in Maitai Street, it was recommended that on the owners undertaking to have the sand removed clear to the road line and proper batters formed for the prevention of farther drift to the satisfaction of tbe foreman, the Board should agree to contribute the sum of <£6 towards the cost of the work. In respect of a similar application by Mr V. E. Manson, it was re<sommendea that the Board should undertake tbrt work, provided that Mr Manson &a«i the adjoining section owners agree trt contribute towards the cost of same and to clay the surface of their seo&Hlg so as to prevent further drift of sawti on to the roadway. MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS. It, was decided to reply to a request made by the Efficiency Board for information dealing with any matte*** which would* tend to increased effioieaMy! in the district at the present tame'and in the future, th&t the Board was «nis doing maintenance work. Comiß. Passmore and Dunkley '•era appointed delegates to confer with otheaJ local bodies for making arraagemettto for a suitable programme to be cawied out on Anzac Day, April 25. A letter was received from the Gobville Town Board stating that it badj been decided to hold over the question of the establishment of a pound. Also that the delegates appointed to oetosider the matter of the proposed owetery would report at a later date. It was resolved to take no for*** action in the matter of an offer of certain land by Mr G. Sanders for & road* The foreman was instructed to aaO«fftain the cost of removing the sandbaaia at the comer of Heads Road and Cram Street and levelling off the top of fim section. Accounts amounting to £2K 14s "wwei prosed for pagonent. The bwnk hafeNMe showed dr. .£367 3s 3d.
