Arrangements have been made to replace the wrecked steamer Maitai |n the San - Francisco service with the Paloona. The latter is of 2771 tons and is a fine type of passenger ■teamer, built on a similar design to the Victoria, her length being 327 ft, beam 42ft, and draught 21ft, which i* slightly less than the Maitai’s measurements.
