INCREASED WAGES.
BOROUGH COUNCIL’S LABOURERS. The Geperal Labourers’ Union made, application at the last meeting of the' Wanganui Borohgh Council for an increase in wages from 10s to 12s per day. The application has been considered by the Works Committee of the Council; and at last night’s meeting of the council the following recommendation was tabled: “We recommend that during the continuance of the war, a bonus of 10 per cent, be given on all general labourers wages, and that the engineer be empowered to pay up to 12s per day in eiery case in which he is satisfied the, Council is getting- value for its money The recommendation was adopted. ~..
