The survey work in connection with the location of the Wairoa section of the Gishorne-Napier railway, which has been in progress for some years, is being shut down. Mr Jae. Thorpe, the engineer in charge, has been transferred to Whangfirci. The survey has been cartied from Wairoa towards Gisborne for a distance of about 10 miles, the line being pegged out to Opouiti.
