MORE DESPERATE FIGHTING. Received October 27. 2.45 p.m. ATHENS. October 26, Official. —The Servians, after desperate fighting, recaptured Koprulu. [Kcprulu, or Veles, was captured a few days ago by the Bulgarians, after desperate fighting. The news as to its recapture by the Servians makes very pleasing reading, as if the Bulgarians had retained possession it meant that the railway from Salonika would have been cut, and the forces of the Allies north of Veles isolated from the forces at Gradetz.] BRITISH TRANSPORT TORPEDOED. 99 REPORTED MISSING. Received October 27, 2.45 p.m. LONDON, October 26. Official.—The British transport Marquette was torpedoed in the Aegean Sea. It is understood that 99 are unaccounted for. STATEMENT BY GREER KING. King Constantine, in a statement to the correspondent of the Associated Preps at Athens, states: —“ Greece is merely loosening the sword in its scabhard. She menaces no one, but cannot permit events constituting a menace to the Integrity of the nation or freedom of the Greek people. It is my duty to arcserve the country from the danger of destruction through becoming involved in the general European conflict. I shall do this at all hazards, If possible."
