CONTINUOUS FIGHTING IN FRANCE.
ALLIES CAPTURE A TRENCH. GERMAN COUNTER-ATTACKS BROKEN. The High Commissioner reports: - CONDON, October 26 (5.10 p.m.). North-east of Massizes a sudden attack gave the Allies mastery of a German trench in proximity to positions recently captured. Fighting was continued foot by foot in the Champagne district, in the centre of La Courtine. The work is fluctuating over a small extent of country. There is strenuous resistance of the Allied troops, and their offensive, immediately it was resumed, broke the German counter-attacks.
