“BEHIND THE SCENES
There was an overflow attendance at the Grand Theatre yesterday and last night, the magnet being the first appearance on the screen of the talented Miss Mary Bickford, in the Famous Flayers’ five-reel drama, “Behind the Scenes." Miss Mary Bickford rakes the part of Dolly Lane, ft poor but pretty little musical comedy soubrette. One night she and her comrades throw confetti into tire audience, nearly blinding a young man, Steve Hunter, who Dolly eventually weds. Stove takes his young wife awav to the West, but the lure of the footlights makes Dolly return, and a wealthy but designing man 'jacks her as the star of a now play. Then oomes Dolly’s triumph, but the climax : s a tense and exciting moment which •eveals the great ability of the aeti»--s. The supporting pictures included “The Trey of Hearts, No. 7,” and diaries Chaplin, the famous comedian, who appears in the genuine Essanay film, "A Woman,” 2000 feet, the latter film being one of the best Chanlin comedies to ■'ate. Another crowded house is assured o-night. “NEPTUNE'S DAUGHTER.” In presenting the world-famous Australian artist, Annette Kellerniau, "the perfect woman,” in the spectacular pictorial oroduction, “Neptune's Daughter,” the Croderic Shipman Enterprises Ltd., have reason to believe that it is presenting the very last word in photo-play art. The vondrous beauty of the .story written by Captain Leslie Peaooeke. the enchanting .■cones afforded by the Bermuda Islands ,vith their coral reefs, mysterious submarine grottos, and gorgeous verdue, together with the vast expanse of the Atlantic, form a bewilderingly beautiful environment. The company comprises over 209 actors, together with 500 supernumeraries. and is headed bv Miss Annette Kclierman, the recognised queen of the aquatic. world. In this delightful romance of the sea, M.iss Kellerman, aside from her marvellous aquatic feats, which she has many opportunities to display, proves that she is a powerful actress, a fascinating dancer, an expert swordswoman and mistress of a. thousand arts, which all contribute to the success of a production, which once seen, will never be forgotten. Plie magnificent staging of the drama was lone by the Universal Film Company of New York.
