Captain Bean cables that General Walker. who succeeded General Bridges in command of the First Australian Division, was wounded In the arm and hip. While Inspecting the trenches and pointing out improrements at a loophole an enemy machine gunner put three bullets through the opening, and two struck General Walker, whose condition is not stated.
