Mr G. J. Park, - principal of the Wangttnui Technical College, hja 1 * received notice of his election to be a Fellow of the Eoyal Economic Society cf London. . Mr W. 3. Williams, one of Waverlcy’s early settlers, has just .passed away at the ripe age of 79J years. He arrived in Australia whed a boy, and he at once went to the goldfields. Subsequently .he came to New Zealand in one of the first four emigrant ships, and he found his way to the Otago goldfields, Later he went to Christchurch, ahd at that time the Citv of the Plains was. in the making, its main buildings being the Post Office, a store, and a hotel. -He was marrjed at Christchurch over 51 years ago, and after some years cf road construction a° well as farming, he came north and settled at Waverley. The deceased was very highly esteemed, and leaves a widow, three sons, and one daughter, namely. Messrs Jack and Owen, of Waverley; William, of Chririchnreh; and Mrs Plum mar, of . Taranaki, ,
