Amusements, Meetings, Etc.

KING’S THEATRE. The head line at the King’s Theatre for to-night is a big Lubin drama, entitled “The' Bond of Womanhood.” This storyshows the sheer selfishness and the blunted sense of right and wrong of some men to whom “love is a thing apart.” Neil Rogers Associates himself with other women, till his wife leaves him. After the parting she meets another woman who is separated from her husband, and a strong 'friendship ripens between the two. The husbands are entirely different .in nature and physique, but they nave the. same failings when it comes to what'is fight and wrong. How each one, is made to see - things more clearly/ makes a pleasing and effective drama. There are also several other attractive subjects including “Out For a Stroll,” a happily conceived comedy; the “.Mysterious Moustacliless Magician,!’ comedy, and the “‘Versatile Villian,” - a Keystone farce, an interesting Gazette of Australian news, a stirring Edison Society drama, “A Chip of the Old Blocs,” and the “Wellington Queen Carnival.”

(TIARLES CHAPLIN AT THE GRAND. i man who enjoyed a moderate success as a comedian in England goes. to imerican and joins a film company. He tells them he can make people laugh and he proceeds to prove- it by setting the whole civilisation r.creeming with merriment. His methods Are to make himself sp as a ' broken-down dude, with- crazy bowler b hat several inches too small for him, a waistcoat that leaves ah inter'eguani of shirt between the last button end the top of the trousers, a 'gnawed-off moustache, boots miles too big for him, and a sixpenny cant, and thus made up to a constant series of antics of, which the. most notable are his French kick end unbalanced run, whether it is his make-up or his drolleries, there he is, the comedian who) amuses 12 million people daily from one end of the world to the other. Chaplin is the craze in every picture theatre throughout the world to-day, and he has proved a tremendous drawing card for the Essaney Flm producers, who are booking orders for latest releases even- -before the films ere taken. Charles Chahlin in “Charlie oy the Sea,” is without ’doubt a scrcem from start to finish.; The supporting pictures are all good and include a capital 3000 feet drama, “Too Return of Richard Neal,” featuring Francis X. Bushman. Next dainty May Pickford will appear in the 3000 feet drama “Behind Uie Scenes.”
