GERMAN CLAIMS. , Press Association.—Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON. October 20. A German wireless claims that von Kovcss captured Obretoviz, Austro-Ger'man units, after a battle, reached the heights eastward of Vrania and - southward of Groca. On the Danube von Gallwitz captured the region westward of Seone. The Bulgarians have pushed forward towards _ Zaitchar' and Kniashevatz and in the direction of the valley of Pirot. •The' Bulgarians also captured Vrania, and further south crossed the Egripu-tanka-Ishtip line. Obretoviz is situated about 20 miles to the south-west of SBelgrade, and Zaitchar is. a strongly fortified Servian town oh the River Timok, in the valley of which the Servians recently scored an important success.
GREECE’S ATTITUDE. AN ANCLO-RUSBIAN . INTIMATION , ATHENS, October 20. Britain and Russia have informed M. Zaitnis that the Allies are sending considerable reinforcements to the Balkan front. They have explained their views concerning the evolution of events, and aiso their interpretation of the Greco-' Servian Treaty, which is apparently not in conformity with M. Zaimis’s. THE ALLIED FORCES. GERMAN EFFORTS TO BELITTLE EXPEDITION. LONDON, October 20. The Tageblatt considers it improbable that the troops which are being landed at Salonika will arrive-in time to help Servia. ' , The Frankfurter Zeitung states that the_ whole of the landing at Salonika is problematical. The wholo strategic situation anticipated the decision of the Entente.—(Times and Sydney Sun Services.) BULGARIAN REGIMENT MUTINIES. MANY OFFICERS REFUSE TO OBEY GERMANS. PARIS, October 20. A Bulgarian regiment near Kinehevatz mutinied, refusing to fight the Servians. The colonel was killed and the rest of the division surrounded the mutineers and decimated them. ROME, October 20. The Tribuna says that General Jekoff (Oommander-in-Chief of the Bulgarian army) is unpopular. Several regiments have mutinied, and numbers <}f officers have refused to obey Germans. Two colonels were shot by Jekoff’s orders. 1 A LARGE RUSSIAN FORCE. PARIS. October 20. There arc indications that Russia is’ sending a large contingent to- Macedonia.
ROUMANIAN ATTITUDE
WHOLESALE GERMAN BRIBERY. LONDON, October 20. The Echo de Paris discloses wholesale German, bribery m Koumania. City and provincial newspapers have been; purchased, and documentary evidence has been provided to show that four leading pro-neutral newspapers are largely subsidised by German propagandists. There are indications that an association supplementing reservists’ pay is subsidised by Germans.—(Times and Sydney Sun .Services.)

LONDON, October 20. The Chicago Daily News publishes a Berlin telegram which says:—“ Salonika is still the one great riddle of the war. It is reported that most of the British and French there have been taken from Gallipoli, indicating, if true, that the Allies admit the complete failure: of the effort to open the Dardabelfes, despite the" loudly-proclaimed: stitfcesses .in the papers, which turned out to bo' disastrous, defeats, .There is, in fact, a new terror for the Allies in the increased activity of German submarines in the Mediterranean, which gave • the deathblow to : the Dardanelles operations last spying,”—(Times and Sydney Sun Services.)
