HOSPITAL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting cf the Wanganui Hospital and Charitable Aid Board waj held tc-day, being .presided over by the chairman (Mr Battle). There were also present Mrs Corayna and Siddella, Dr. She.man, Messrs B'gn.ll, Hine, Lethbri'ge, Fletcher, McGregor,. Bassett, b'mith. ' SYMPATHY.— A. resolution of sympathy va> posed to Mrs Comyns and Mr Flnt-hcr in ■*hei” recent .bereavements. LEAVE OF ABSENCE.—Nurse- Southall, matron of the Taihpne Hosmtal, was granted three mouths’ leave qf absence on account cf illness. HEALTH OF DISTRICT-The District Health Inspector reported that diphtheria was prevalent in this district during September. lie added that there r.pneared to be a growing tendency to inako full use of being able to notify suspected caoes. These case-, unfortunately, gave inst ns much trouble as a real ca-e. causing the Board the double expense cf disinfection and hospital treatment. The ins"ecter reported that further samples of milk have been taken, and as a result legal proceedings are pending. EXECUTIVE'S REPORT.—The executive committee renewed bavin- '>nnnn'*-M Messrs Basset and Bignell and the architect a committee <-o go into the o'-e + ion of installing a larger range and hotwator system fcr the Hospital, to cost HOSPITAL OFFICER’S REPORTS.— The medical superintendent of the Wanganui Hosnihal renrrted that dur : ncr Porjtomhor 179 patients were treated at the Ilr'-nPal. 87 were admitted, 75 discharged, and there were 9 deaths. At the end of ciin m-nth 94 patients remained in the ins’Ration for treatment.
