TO PROTECT OUR SOLDIERS

A WANGANUI INVENTION. AX additional chance for life. The war has culled forth a "wealth of inventive ingenuity, primarily, as might he expected, of what may be termed a destructive character.. Improvements in weapons and munitions, new 'engines of war for land, sea, and air—these are - tiie things about which many brains have l)oen busy ever since the war commenced. There is, however," another field of invention no Ic.-s important, in which the workers have for their aim the welfare of the men who have to fare the hardships and perils incidental to this mighty conflict. . ■ • It is plea-iug to know that Wanganui has not been idle" in this conflict, .and that at least one clever and exceedingly useful invention, the value of which will be appreciated by every soldier, is about to hj? placed on the world's market. The chief purpose of the “combination protector, money carrier, and Testament, 'pocket-book, or letter holder’' is to give every man in the firing line an additional chance for life, while at the same time providing a safe, useful, and convenient means of carrying his most cherished possessions. •: The ‘‘protector” takes the form of a specially designed leather pocket, with independent compartments. The ! front compartment, the money-carrier, is backed bv a thin sheet of tempered" steel, behind this is the uockot for book or letters/ and back of all is a plate" of heavier steel. The “protector” is attached to the braces, so as to cover the heart, "and is so arranged as to “gjyc” .with every movement of the body and, afford no inconvenience at all to the wearer. -The steel plate is removable, so that it need, only be worn when in action; hut, even with the plate in position, the weight is Inconsiderable and is carried where it is least felt. Medical men and military exports who have carefully examined the invention have unanimously pronounced it to be a capital-idea, and those with'sous at Gallipoli have bael ■ed their /opinion by placing orders for nrompt despatch. All necessary patent ■ formalities, -etc., havinw now been eomnieted,-Messrs Young and Collins. Ltd., purpose placing their invention on the market immediately.
