INTEE-COLLEGE TOURNAMENT. WELLINGTON v. WANGANUI. The final game in the, inter-College tournament was being played on tile College , ground to-day as 'wo wont to press, between Wellington and Wanganui. Groat interest was taken in the game which was expected to be a very stubbornly contested one, and there' was a large attendance of spectators. A strong northerly wind was blowing, which made things rather unpleasant for. the spectators and militated to some extent against the play, as it tended.to spoil fine passlng- j I PRIMARY SCHOors’ SHIELD COM- ! PETITION. j On Saturday afternoon the final match the Primary School Junior Shield Competition was played on Hurworth ground between Hurworth and Castled iff, and resulted in a win for the latter by 15 points tp nil, after a- well contested i game chiefly confiried to the forwards. The Hurworth , boys, apparently heavier ■ than their opponents, showed, some flashes of splendid football, as did the Cast led iff boys, and on several occasions played football that is seldom seen in higher grades. For the winners, Welch, Toekelt, Harris, and Davis were the pick of a good set'offorwards, while in the., hacks 'Johnston, j Jarrett, Cox and the . Williams brothers showed to the host advantage.
