MANGAWHERO ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above board was held on Wednesday morning last, there being present: Messrs D. Ross (chairman), Robinson, Craig, Hamilton, O’Neill and Hamilton. Council’s proposals to include the Manga- j where Road Board as a contributor to i the cost of the proposed work, it was re- I solved ,to appoint Messrs Bullock, Currie ; and Douglas to act instead. j GOVERNMENT ROAD GRANTS. i The Under-Secretary of the Public Works Department wrote offering the Board the expenditure of the following- road and bridge grants, provided plans were submitted and approved , and that funds were ; available:—Waipapa'(J>l for-.JBl), .£SO; , Hau Road, £100; Parihauiiau Tukomai i (on account of £500) (Ml ’ for ,£1), ,£150; .j ■ Mangahowhi, 41140 8s . 4d; Pitangi, J5300 j 17s Id; Pitangi stream bridge, 41750; | Raupui, 4182 8s sd; Te Komai,. 41100; Wanganui'River Road (left bank), 41372 12s 2d. It was resolved that the , engineers, Messrs Dix and Bogle, be instructed to prepare., plans and .specifications of the proposed works, and submit for approval of the Public Works De- ■ partment, and to call for tenders as soon ! as authorities for tfie grants have been issued. • TE TUHI ROAD THlßDS,—Resolved that proposals for expenditure of To Tuhi road thirds on metalling be submitted to the Land Board., RAUPUI ROAD.—If. was resolved; to confirm the action of the chairman in‘letting a contract to W. Cairn for taking off a point on tho road. • METALLING MAKIRIKIRI ROAD EXTENSION.—It was resolved to accept Mr A, T. Hunter’s offer to contribute 4150 towards the' cost of metalling , the road, provided Messrs Hunter and Speed agreed to fence, in the road.PITANGI ROAD CONTRACTS T ,'and 2.—lt was resolved to accept W. Gann and Son’s tender for this work. WANGANUI RIVER ROAD (left Bank), Contract.—lt was resolved to hold over acceptance of tender until the Government grant authority had been issued. PUKEKOWHAI DEVIATION. Messrs Dix and Bogle wrote reporting that the Public Works Department had advised that the necessary steps were now being taken to have the road surveyed and legalised. FINANCIAL.—Accounts amounting to 41184 6a 2d were passed for payment. Bank pass book, showing a- credit balance of 41367 14s 3d, was laid on the table.
