PERSONAL.
The many friends of Mr F. C. Millward, secretary of the Harbour -Hoard, will be pleased to hear that he has sufficiently recovered from his recent illness to spend a few hours in his office yesterday. Lieut.-Coloncl Hughes and Major Harper, vho have been at Trentham for the past fortnight, assisting in the management of thb Dominion' Rifle Association meeting'.’ returned to Wanganui last evening. Old boys of the Wanganui Grammar School will be interested to hear that the leaders in the A section at the bowling tournament i yesterday (Messrs Fred and Frank Parkes, Jas. Laird, and D. (lellatrly) were pupils at “West’s School," which stood on the site in the Avenue nowoccupied by McQruer’s and other buildings. About 1880 a new building was erected higher up the Avenue, and given the status, of a High School, the pupils being transferred thither. Mr West then retired from the Education Board's service and entered the Presbyterian ministry, the late Mr Fearnley’being appointed principal of the new high Scimoi. 'there are, many other “old boys" of “West’s School” (as it was. familiarly termed in the old days) playing bowls in Wanganui other than the members of St. John’s rink, at the Wanganui Centre tourney.-
