THE YEAR’S OPERATIONS. (Per United Press Association.) Vi ELLINGTOjN, February ](i. Commenting on the satisfactory result of the year’s operations, the chairman of the Wellington Gas Company, at the annual meeting to-day stated thfft by the payment of the last instalment of the 'call on ordinary shares that fell due on the 15th March the last share capital became =6235.780, derived from ordinary shares, and <£73,088 from preference shares issued, or £308,384, had been received. To meet the five per cent, dividend on preference shares and the customary dividend of ten per cent, on ordinary shares, £27,233 would bo required cadi year. The amount carried forward under the proposals previously submitted now stood at £22,498, which was still a less sum than the amount of One year’s dividend, which the Hoard was of opinion ought to be in hand ■o as to afford provision for possible contingencies arising 'out of coal and labour difficulties.
