MILITARY PENSIONER’S DEATH. (Per Uiited Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 15. Charles Parsons, a jicusioner, aged 84, single, died at Papanui on Saturday. A verdict of death from natural causes was returned. He is said to have fought in the Crimean and China wars. KILLED WHILE STUMPING. TAIHAPE, February 15. A man named Samuel Smith, who was stumping at Mataroa to-day,, had hitched the horse he was using to a largo stump. In the consequent pull the stump fell backwards, striking Smith heavily oa the chest and killing him instantly. His companion (Donald) had a narrow escape. SUDDEN DEATH. WAIPAWA, February 16. Lucy Emily Kowe, aged forty-two, married, died suddenly yesterday. A clot of blood on the brain was the cause of death.
