SALE OF YEARLINGS.
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 23. The annual sale of Mr lan Duncan’s Waikanae yearlings took place to-day. There was a good attendance of sportsmen, but bidding was very slow for the majority of -the draft. Fourteen lots were submitted, and they - realised 1605 guineas, or an average of a little over 133$ guineas each. One lot—a chestnut colt by Boris—Camarilla—was not offered, as he injured himself early in January, and two lots were passed. Details of the sale are:— B.c. by Danube—Mistione, Mr D. Riddiford, 125 guineas ; br.c. by Charlemagne—Eden, Mr J. Fuller, 40 guineas; b.c. by Achilles or Bczouian—Mallaig, Mr W. Duncan; 50 guineas; b.c. by Charlemagne—Shepherdess, Mr E.' Riddiford, 100 guineas; br.f. by Benzonian—Prelude,' Mr H. Speed/160 guineas; b.f, by--Achilles —Chin Wag, Mr D. G. Greenwood, 125 guineas; ch.f. My Downshire—Purity, Mr Erio Riddiford, 525 guineas; b’.c. by Achilles—Busy Girl, no- bid; br.f. by Benzonian—Spun Gold, Mr E. Riddiford, 50 guineas; Mr.f. by Achilles—Lady Helen, Mr J. B.
