Tho Montreal police report the arrest of Harry Thaw wnile hiding in tuo little village of Coaticook, in Quebec province. DEPORTATION ORDERED. Received August 20, 12.40 p.m. OTTAWA, Anguut 19. Tho Canadian immigration authorities have ordered Thaw’s deportation. The Thaw case lias been before the American public on innumerable occasions since June, 1900, when Thaw killed Titanlord White, a well-known architect, whom he accused of immorality with Mrs Thaw, The case was one of the most unsavoury on record, even in America. Thaw waff placed on trial in January, 1907, and the jury disagreed in April, The second trial oegan eignt months later, and in February of 1908 Thaw was acquitted on the ground of* hj sanity amt sent to Matteawan Asylum. He had been there only a few weeks later another writ was obtained, habeas corpus, and a long hearing resulted in Ills being sent back to the asylum. A fe wweeks later another writ was obtained, and another long hearing would have followed if Thaw’si counsel had not decided that au attempt to obtain the removal of bis client to Pennsylvania in bankruptcy proceedings offered better hope of success. On that attempt, failing another writ was appb'ed for and granted. But the Judge’s decision to send the cane for hearing to New York County did not meet the wishes of counsel, who accordingly after a short interval obtained a new writ. The result was a further hearing, which ended in tho Judge finding that Thaw was suffering from the form of insanity known as paranoia. Tho hearing had all the detail' and circumstance of a criminal trial. Witness follows witness; alienists are marshalled on either side; the testimony of previous trials was read, and there were numerous exhibits.
