Tudor created a sensation in the House by stating that the Government had proclaimed the Sugar Bounty and Excise Abolition Act at a time when the Colonial Sugar Co. held huge reserves whereon duties amounting to £IOO,OOO would have been levied had the proclamation been slightly delayed. HEAVY POLLING AT THE ELECTIONS. MELBOURNE, August 19. Over 73 per cent of the electors, voted iu the recent Federal elections, compared with 33 in 1911 and (52 in 1910. NAVIGATION ACT. MELBOURNE, August 19. Tho Navigation Act will not be proclaimed for some time. Owners will bo allowed ample time to make the necessary structural alterations in vessels. Tho Act means a tremendous revolution in Antralian shipping methods.
