It transpires that owing to various industrial disputes, etc., arising in tho Home land, Hoosey and Co. have been delayed somewhat in executing the order which should have been executed fully three montiw ago. W hen the new instruments are issued to the members tho Alexandra Regimental' Hand should he one of tho best equipped Bauds in tho Dominion, and with such a capable instructor and leader as Lieut. Buckley, assisted by his energetic committee, tho future should he very promising. Tho public have not failed to notice the continued progress the Hand has made, while the continuous calis on the instrumentalists, omiened witli their own concerts, not to mention the necessary practices which are ■o essential- to an up-to-date musical organisation, clearly indicates the spirit and enthusiasm in which tho memiiers enter into their work. The Hand intends entering for the Exhibition contest, at Auckland m-xt February, and the necessary accommodation lias already been secured at the King’s Court private hotel. The executive-of the Hand is also negotiating for two or throe first-class players to hi ing their membership to its full strength. Next Sunday afternoon tho Band will give an open air performance in the Rotunda, on the Virginia Lake reserve, commencing at 11 o’clock. Concerts will also be given at other suburbs, which will bo notilied from time to time, and the performances will no doubt be greatly appreciated by the public.
