NATIONAL RESERVE TO BE FORMED. DUTIES OF THE RESERVES. ' THE QUALIFICATIONS. (I er Unite*! Press Association AUCKLAND, June 25. The organisation of the National Reserve League in the Auckland Military .UioVrict baS been entrusted by Oenerai uodley to Colonel Allan Rell, wno served in the Matabele and Roer U ars, and was lately in ttte command of the \\ aikato " Mounted Regiment. Colonel Dell will shortly tet up a committee of military officers to formulate plans governing the organisation. Ihc object of the movement is to enrol men who have served in any military and naval forces of the Crown, who, being over age tor training in the Territorials and under no obligation for .further service, are willing to come forward tor service in the event of a national emergency. 'ihc duties ot the national reserve will be, on a national emergency, to form a combatant unit for service in the field, to carry out combatant duty in garrison or other fixed petitions, or perform administration work. Enrolment will be purely voluntary. The local military authorities will do all in their power to give the national reserve a privileged position in national ceremonial occasions and local military functions, and it is hoped similar privileges will be accorded them by country and municipal authorities at public functions under their control. Those qualified to join the National Reserve are Royal Navy, Volunteer Reserve, and kindred colonial forces, ex-natural ratings and marine ranks, naval and marine pensioners over 55 years. Royal Naval Reserve pensioners enrolled prior to 1906 at 60 years. The Royal Fleet Reserves, Royal Naval Reserve, and kindred colonial forces, es-soldiers and special reserve ex-Militiamen, cs-Ycomanry, cxVolunteers, and ex-members of colonial forces, ex-Territoriala, and the Territorial Force Reserve, in the case of Home Jerritorials eight years with the colours or with colours and Territorial Force Reserve. In the case of New Zealand those who would have finished their time in the Territorial Force, individuals who have been duly granted the war medal,, exmembers of constabulary, members of the League of Frontiersmen, honorary members of Rifle Clubs, honorary Territorials, and other persons approved by the committee.
