Replying to a deputation from the Conference of the Federated Cooks and Waiters’ Unions Mr Massey said that a Hill dealing with the subject of employment in hotels .and restaurants, would he introduced early next session, and every opportunity would be given to those concerned, to give evidence before the Labour ills’ Committee, and he could take the decision of Parliament on the proposal contained in the Hill. A measure would also be introduced to give effect to aa »viaent intention of Parliament regarding the employment of unregistered barmaids.
Regarding the Vegistry office fee, hi« idea was to discriminate between those keepers who complied with the spirit of the Act and charged fees both to employers and employees, and those who «m’ not. Tne Labour Department wes preparing recommendations on the subject.
