AN AUCKLAND REQUEST. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 12. The Hon. Mr Herdman, replying to a City Council deputation on tho subject of the Police Department taking control of the city traffic, said that ' Auckland would need twelve extra constables, and the cost would bo £2700. The Government recognised that the police should control .the street traffic in the centres, but the financial arrangements presented some difficulty.; He would confer with Commissioner Cullen on the subject.
