COACH FATALITY AT RONGOTEA.
THE DRIVER KILLED. • (Per United Press Association.) . PALMERSTON N., May 12. A terrible experience befell the Rongotea coach which left Palmerston on Saturday afternoon. When about a mile from Ilongotea, the horses bolted and killed the driver, Archibald Eliott. The coach was overturned, with resultant bruises to two passengers named Itevoll and Classen. About 5 o’clock, when darkness was becoming pronounced, the driver had dismounted to light the lamps, and must have slipped when, remounting the box, or else.the horses started too soon. Eliott fell near the horses, one of which lashed out, crushing his skull, then sped 'furiously on for,about 200 yards, overturned the coach in an open drain, hurled the passengers out, and proceeded to plunge, 'with the result that both horses received mortal injuries. The passengers' were'not badly hurt, but the coach was smashed. Deceased was : single, 34 years of age, and belonged to Tima.ru. Ho was part proprietor of the coach. J
