GONVILLE TOWN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. i . The usual monthly'meeting of the Gonville Town Board-was hold last night, at which there were present—Commissioners Arnold (chairman), Benefield, Boyd, Bowater, Moore, and Svensou. DEED OF TRUST.—Messrs Marshall and Hutton forwarded the draft cops of the Fir.c Brigade deed of trust for the perusal of the Board.—The Board signified its ■ approval of the agreement, and authorised the Board’s representative to sign it. ■, HEALTH ‘ REPORTS.—The District Health Inspector forwarded his report for the month of February, which’ showed that during that month no infectious diseases were reported.—The report for March was also forwarded, which showed that in that month one ease of scarlet fever and one ease of typhoid wore reported from the Gonvillc District.— Adopted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE.—The Board's foreman (D. Margelts) applied for a , week’s leave of absence in order to attend the Oringi camp with Queen Alexandra’s Mounted Infantry Band.-—Leave was granted. RESIGNATION.—Mr A. Dewsou. ranger and dog tax collector, forwarded his resignation, to take effect from May 7. — The resignation was accepted. RANGER AND DOG TAX COLLECTOR.—Mr M. Hogan wrote applying for the position of ranger and dog tax collector for the Gohvillo Town Board.—Mr Hogan was appointed to the position applied for. GROUNDS FOR FOOTBALL.—The secretary of the Wanganui Football Association wrote asking what grounds the Board' had available for leasing purposes for football, and the probable rent thereof. —The Association* also the school, was allowed the use of portion of the reserve during the pleasure of the Board. RATEPAYER’S REQUEST. —Mr J. Morgan, Abbott Street, asked the Board to fill up a hole in front of his section. -The matter was referred to the Works Committee, with power to act.
DRAINAGE INSPECTION.—Mr A. Larsen' wrote stating that he was prepared to act as building and drainage inspector to the Board.—lt was decided to hold the letter over for ’a time. OVERHANGING TREES,—It was decided to ask the.Engineer or foreman to instruct the occupiers of houses where trees are obstructing footpaths to have them cat back or the Board would cut them back within seven da vs of notice.
ACCOUNTS.—Accounts amounting to £409 10s lOd’were passed for payment.
SMOKE CONCERT.— I The Board accented an invitation to attend the Gonvillc Five Brigade’s fourth annual smoke concert to-night.
REPORTS. ENGINEER’S REPORT.—A report was received from the Engineer, Mr C. 11. Lawn, on the work done during the month, as follows:—Roads: The re-forma-lion of Carlton Avenue has been completed from Koromiko ■ Road to Alma Road, and part from Korimiko to Heads Road. Koroniikp Road footpath has been metalled with 12 yards of metal. Cains and Queen’s Avenues have been repaired. —Waterworks: The laying of water-mains in Konini Street to workers' homes has been completed, and seven services put in. Three, other water services have been put in. The main meter reading is 9,194,49(1 gallons, making a consumption for the month of 357,990 gallons.—Drainage: Throe connections have been put in, and one blockage attended to.—Buildings: Ten permits have been issued for five residences ,a»d five additions and alterations. BATHS COMMITTEE.—A meeting of the Baths Committee was held on 10th April. The Commit tee reported havin'* directed that the. baths be closed for the season on (he 21st iust. The baths to be
