ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
AN OLD MAN’S DEATH. (Per United Press Association.) HSTERCAEGILL, May 7. Patrick Kennelly, a miner, aged 73, and single, was discovered in the Mataura Stiver on Sunday by Constable Henderson, of Lumsdcn. Kennelly, who., lived in a hut about two miles from Athol, had boon missing since Friday, and it is thought that he was drowned while attempting to' cross the river. The body was removed to Garston, where an inquest was held, and a verdict was returned to the effect-that the dcecasod’s death was caused, by shock while trying to cross .the Mataura Diver.
SUDDEN DEATH. PALMERSTON N., May 7. A wed-dressed man ■ about 33 years of age, auljnrn hair, whose pockets contain*eel documents bearing the name W. Timperly, and a railway ticket from Ilawerato Hastings, sat ill the Westport Coal Company’s yard, near Palmerston North statlaii, tkis afternoon,-,and.>'dietL. One of the employees wfriit up and spoke to him, and found that he was dead. The cause was apparently heart disease. An imjnest will bo held to-morrow.
A MAORI KILLED. AUCKLAND, May 7. The police received information to-day that a Maori named 11. Cook was killedearlier in the day at ■ lima-wera- through being jammed between two logs while engaged- in logging.
