Mr C. N. Worsley, 8.8.A., baa returned from his fortnight's holiday at Mountain House, Mt. Egmoht, where he has made a number of sketches of tho mount and district.

Mr A. 0. Dawson, late manager of the N.Z. Closing Factory, and who ha* purchased tho business conducted by j»r. W. Ditchings, outfitter, in tho Avenue, left town to-day for the 'f-ou.h on a business trip.

It it stated that Mr Cbns. Tay.or, Clerk of the Court nt Col.iugwood, and Into of Wanganui, has been appointed Clerk of the Court at.reildiug.

Mr Alien Robinson, who was one of the Wanganui delegates at tho Congress of International Chambers of Commerce at Boston, U.S.A., last year, and who afterwards spent several mouths touring Britain and the. Continent, returned to Wanganui this week.

Notification of well-deserved promotion has been received by the popular Clerk of the Court at Wanganui, Mr C. A. Barton, who has been appointed to the important office of Clerk of tho Court at Auckland. Mr Barton baa been thirteen years in Wanganui, during which time he has taken a very keen interest in all sports. Mr F. W. Hart, of Blenheim, is taking Mr Barton’s place here.

Mr N. Mackenzie Forbes, of the Newmarket Hotel, lias disposed of bis interest in that establishment to Mr F. D. Cormack, of Wellington, who takes over the management from the end of this week. During the ten years he has been landlord of the Newmarket Mr Forbes lias conducted bis- hotel on excellent lines, and lias made it quite one of the most popular houses on the coast. His very many friends will bo pleased to learn that Mr Forbes does not intend to leave this district,’but will take up his residence in the town or one of the suburbs.
