THE “TEIUMPH” MAKES GOOD AGAIN. There are athletes and horses, yea, and motor cycles, that have their bad days and their good days. When all the conditiqns arc just right they can put up a very fine performance. With the man and the horse this will always be the case, hut we surely have a right to expect a little more consistency, from a machine. We can claim that the'“ Triumph” is a consistently reliable motorcycle, and in proof of that consistency wo don’t have to go further back or any further afield than the beach races conducted in this district during the season opened a few weeks ago. At every one of these meetings the “Triumph” has been to the fore, and Saturday’s events were no exception to the. rule. In the 10-mile event F. Haworth, on a Triumph established a fresh single-cylinder record for the distance, travelling at a rate of over 54 miles an hour. In, the fifty miles event A. J. Lucas, a 14-stonc rider, on a fully equipped roadster “Triumph" weighing 2121b. was first, and H. E. Dougina, also on a two and a-half year’s old “Triumph” broke the fifty mi.c record by five minutes, making the fastest time in the race, and beating the twin cylinder machines and running, second. Wo might remark that the challenge issued by the well known “Triumph” rider, Mr G. B. Brown, some time ago to undertake a hill climbing competition against any machines of any power on either the Pakakariki Hill (North Island), or Summer Hill (South Island) for .£lO, the sum to be given to some charity, has not yet been accepted. This is an indication that the “Triumph” is just as consistent and reliable on hills as on the flat. The now “Triumph” sells as follows—Fixed engine ,£7O, free engine „CHO, three-speed JSBS. 1 ADAMS, LTD., The Avenue, Wanganui.
