FIRE AT NEWTOWN.

THREE HOUSES BURNT. (Per United Press Association.! W ELLINGTON, May 18. Throe two-storey houses in Russell Terrace, near the Newtown tram termjnus, were destroyed by fire to-day. Two others were damaged. The houses burned were owned by the Hon. Mr Hamilton Gilmer. The fire was caused by the overturning of a methylated spirit lamp.
