HA AWARD'S PKTERLS. SIGXOR MARTIXKXGO TO-XIGHT. Tlii.s evening, at the Lyceum, theatregoers can look forward to a special musical treat, in addition to the usual Monday e Iran go of programme. The special attraction is the first appearance at this popular theatre of Signor Martinengo, who comes with a great reputation as a baritone singer and master of that delightful instrument, the Velio. Speaking of ''igaor Martinengo. the Wellington Times .-ays:- ■‘•Signor .Martinengo. Velloist and baritone, made his initial bow to a Wellington audience. ‘The Unemployed I'iusieian,' a pathetic scena, is presented in a manner whim stamp,s this artist as one of more than ordinary attainments. His act throughout is clover and finished, and is very enjoyable. Every detail is phasing, and the audience was insistent in its demands for encores. He is without doubt a master of the 'cello, his contributions being ‘The JJroken Melody,’ Masi agni's ‘Ave Marie,’ and the ‘Caprice Hon* groi-e.’ In the .second part he contributed ' Vig-I-Addy-l-Ay,' from ‘Our Miss Gibbs,' with ‘cello ai (.ompaniment: also ‘Tilly on the Telephone,’ and a beautiful ballad entitled, ‘Leaving, Yet Loving.’ '’ The Hayward management promise a splendid programme of latest pictures this evening, and advise intending patrons to reserve their seats at H. I. Jones and .Son's, or by 'phones !H3 and 852. At an early date Hayward's will present a most sensational and thrilling nictate. entitled “The Tour Daredevils.'' Judging by (he reports from southern newspapers, this picture will outrival all previous productions yet seen at the Lyceum. There was a very large attendance at the Street Church of Christ last evening, when Mr H. Grinstead delivered an address on “The Lord is My Shepherd,’’ taken from Psalm 25. The addresses during the next few Sunday evenings should prove very interesting. Mr Grinstead intends delivering a series of addresses on “The nature and duration of the future punishment of the wicked.” This is a subnet of great interest, the misbelief by some of cvWlasting torture being to a great extent responsible for many eases of infidelity. The first address on, “Is the doctrine of eternal punishment truer’’ will be delivered next Sunday, when everybody is cordially welcomed.
