Regarding the petrol famine, the Vacuum Oil Company here has ceased supplying. It is believed that private speculators made largo purchases, tills lying one cans.- of the shortage. Tim opinion expressed in a telegram from Wellington is by no mean echoed here. Local garages have very short supplies, and some artsupplying customers at whatever they have to pay themselves. Other quotations very from 30s to -40s per case. One lirm reports that it has .secured IO‘HI gallons, which are due to-morrow.
