BOXING TOURNAMENT.
THE TRACT-MAXWELL CONTEST. AT THE OPERA HOUSE TO-NICHT. This evening, at the Opera House, the much-discussed lightweight match between Tim Tracy and A. Maxwell will eventuate. As the deciding night has drawn closer, interest has increased, and during the last few days the query, “How’s Maxwell going to get on with Tracy?” or vice versa, has been the dominant note in local boxing circles. Both men are well-known hero, and notwithstanding that prior to this Maxwell, has been numbered amongst the trophy-hunters, both arc recognised to be skilful exponents of the art. In the face of this it is not to be wondered at that opinion is pretty evenly divided. However, whichever way the .verdict goes, one is safe to prophesy a first-class exhibition, as both are boxers of the willing order. Reports from both trahuilg quarters ore to the effect that the men-are. in the best of condition, so there is nothing to tear on that score. The preliminary bouts should be as interesting as the big event, the prin ii.il being the Ellis-Breed bout. Other contests will be provided by Forbes and Gardener (welters). Bond and Grogan (lights). Diamond and Grotty (feathers), and a midecision affair, Clapbam v. Wells, two scientific exponents. Mr T. Sampson, of Wellington, will referee the contests. We would advise patrons to be earlv to Rerun 1 their seats, as there is sure to be a tremendous crowd.
