FIERCE FIGHTING NEAR OPORTO. Thirty Republicans Killed. LONDON, July fi. The Portuguese Republicans and Monarchists have at last come into conflict. According to despatches published by the Morning Lender from its Lisbon correspondent, there lias been a fierce fight between the rival forces. The battle took place near Oporto, 170 miles from Lisbon. The Republicans are reported to have bad .’lO killed, but it is not known what lasses were suffered by the Royalists. Republican troops bold the northern part, of Portugal, and (he Monarchists am assembled across the frontier in Spain.

It was cabled yesterday that the Government had despatched 55,000 troops to the north-western frontier.
