The Dio Post declares that Germany’s real vital interest in an independent Moroeo is that Germany should in the event of war be able to start a Mohammedan insurrection against France, in order to prevent the latter’s employment of North African native troops in Europe.
NO SECRET TREATY. Received Julv 7, I p.m. ' PARIS, July 6. The alleged secret treaty with Morocco is fictitious.
STRENGTHENING THE ENTENTE. Received July 8. 9.20 a.in. PARIS, July 7. The newspapers generally commend Mr Asquith’s statement, as further strengthening the entente.
BRITISH PREMIER’S STATEMENT. Welcomed in France. Received Julv 8, 8.5 a.m. PARIS, July 7. The Right Hou, H. H. Asquith’s statement anent the Moroccan crisis, has been welcomed in Franco Mr. Asquith , stated in the House of Commons that the situation which had arisen in Morocco was likely to affect British interests. He was confident that diplomacy would find a solution, but the Government would duly protect its own interests, and fulfil its treaty obligations with France.
