WANGANUI DEBATING UNION.

SESSION OPENS JULY 10th. The 1911 session of the Wanganui Debating Union will open on Wednesday. July 19, when the following teams wih meet (the team taking the affirmative is mentioned first in each ease], — St. Paul's 1! v. Law Subject: “That the Study of Dead Languages should be Abolished from the Curricula of our Schools.” Druids A v. T.Y.M.I. A.—Subject: 'Hint it is desirable to establish an Imperial Council for the conduct of British Imperial Affairs.” (Note. —On the lines suggested liy Sir Joseph Ward.) Tlie first-mentioned debate will he he’d in St. Paul's Hall, Mr G. \Y. McCaul acting as judge. The debate between Druids A and T.Y.M.I. A will be held in the T.Y.M.I. Booms, the judge being Mr G. W. Currie. Dates and subjects for further debates will be notified later. A meeting of all debaters will bo held in tlie T.Y.M.I. Booms on Friday, July It, at S p.m,, when the memliers (, f flic advisory committee will read short papers to those present on some of the subjects in the syllabus, in order to give information and saggiest ions on Home of tlie matters which are out of tlie range of every day questions. It is hoped that all memliers of debating chilis under the jurisdiction of tlie Union will make a. point of being present.
