FIXTURES. July 6 and 7—Gisborne R.C. Winter. July 15. 19. and 22.—Wellington R.C W inter. August 8, 10, and 12.—Canterbury J.C. Grand National. November 4.—C.J.C, New Zealand Cup. WAITARA RACING CLUB. PROTEST AGAINST BEING WIPEU OUT. (Per United Press Association.) WAITARA, July 4. lire committee of the Waitara Racing Club met last evening and decided to send a deputation to the Minister respecting the Commission’s recommendation, which practically wipes the Waitara Club out. As this club has a well laid out and fenced course, and has had a one-day meeting a year, it is felt that an injustice has been done, particularly as the chib catered for and. received the support of the large area of settlement of North Taranaki. It was also decided to join with the Waipawa chib and others in holding a conference to decide on a course of action with a view of reinstatement.

THE GERMAN DERBY. WON BY CHILPERIC. BERLIN, June 30. The German Derby was run at Hamburg (o-day, and waa won by Baron Springer's Clulperic. The value of the prize was .£6OOO without sweepstakes. BY “ACHILLES.” The New Zealand Racing Conference is to assemble at Wellington on July 17 for its animal meeting. Sir George Clifford has conrerrcd the name of Politician on the yearling colt by Treadmill from Elusive. The weights for the New Zealand Grand Nationals arc due to make their appearance on Friday next. .Late files tell na that a scone of great enthusiasm followed the first victory for King George at Doncaster. Indeed, so ;asily did Pintadeaii score that the rhecivi started long before the winning-post, was reached, and as tho welcome intelligence spread to places where the finish could not ho seen the cheers grew louder and louder, and were continued until the jockey had weighed in and the horse led away. Immediately after his Majesty's success the Mayor of Doncaster (says tho London Sportsman) sent a telegram to King George as follows;—“ The Mayor and inhabitants of Doncaster respectfully offer their heartiest congratulations to your Majesty on your Majesty’s first victory on the turf.”
The rumours with regard to Siinslar and the English Derby seem to have started on May 24. It was then said that he had not been out at exercise, that lie had pulled up log-weary, that ho would not run at Epsom unless rain fell, aud that he had met with a mishap on the Tuesday —none of which proved to be even flavoured with truth.
Sporting men generally who have beer anticipating with some anxiety more particulars of the English Derby and Galas than those sent by cable will be interested to know that the first three in the former, bunstar, Stedfast, and Royal Tender, were followed by Phryxus, Eton Boy, and Cellini in that order. The winner started at 13 to 8, Stedfast at XOO to 8, and Royal Tender at 25 to 1. A cable to Mr Adrian says that Sunstar jarred himself while rounding Tottenham Corner, and pulled up lame. It was supposed here that Frank Wootton rode Stedfast, but he had the Mount on Lord Derby’s other stria w, King William. There were 26 starters! There wore 21 runners in the Oake, F. Wootton having the mount on Hair Trigger 11., who ran third. Cherimoya, the winner, had not appeared before, and she won in a canter, though starting at 25 to 1. Lemberg, ridden by Dillon, won the Coronation Cup, with Swynford (F. Woolton) second, and Bachelor’s Double (Stem) in the other nlace.
