BOXING.

In reference to the forthcoming tournament to be held under the auspices of the Wanganui Amateur Boxing Association, it is expected that amongst the entrants wLU bo several of Dick Ellis’s pupils from Kai Iwi, Waitotara, and Waverlcy. Dick reports that the lads in these places arc making good progress in the noble art of self-defence, and he anticipates that one or two of them will be amongst the winners. Ellis is visiting Waitotara tomorrow, and will be accompanied by Jim ticanlan and McCarthy, the cx-champion amateur wejter-weight of Australia. Exhibitions of scientific boxing, ball-punch-ing, and skipping will be given by the party, and Ellis will show hits and stops with McCarthy and Scanlan.
