Mrs Proudlock reiterates her innocence, ■flic states that she is unable to bear the ''.error and suspense of a second trial, and vithdraws her appeal. She asks the Saltan to have pity on her sufferings and pardon her.
Mrs Proudlock was recently sentenced to death on a charge of having shot a man named Stewart, a friend of the family, whom she declares tried to assault her while she was alone in her bungalow.
