SHIPPING LEGISLATION.
THE NEW ZEALAND LAW. LONDON, March 17. Regarding the understanding reached between the New Zealand Government and the Board of Trade on those clauses of the New Zealand Shipping and Seamen Amendment Act of 1909, to which the Board took exception on the ground that they contained provisions at variance with Imperial legislation, the London correspondent of the Manchester Guardian says:—“Tho New Zealand Government have undertaken to prepare an amending Bill, embodying the views of the Board of Trade as to Bills of lading, and restricting its operations to contracts entered into in New Zealand. On the understanding that this measure will be introduced into the Dominion Parliament at tho beginning of next session, the King has been advised" to assent to the 1909 Bill. Meanwhile it has been agreed to defer further consideration of the Amending Bill passed during the last session of the New Zealand Parliament until the arrival of Sir Joseph Ward in London.
