At the Newmarket Meeting the Two Thousand Guineas resulted-: Sunstar 1, Stedfast 2, Lycaon 3. F. Wootton rode Stedfast. BY “ACHILLES.” The Wellington Autumn Meeting starts to-morrow, when the Thompson Handicap will be decided. The gathering will be brought to a conclusion on Saturday, when the N.Z. St. Legcr will be decided. Danube has arrived at Trentham to compete in the St. Legcr. It is understood that that will be his last race with th» colours up. Fred Tilley has taken Equitas down for ♦he Thompson Handicap to-morrow. The daughter of Advance is in tip top form, a* she proved at Feilding, and her connections are very hopeful of her making a bold showing. It is understood that she lias been coupled with several of the Railway Handicap candidates. Hector Gray is to nde Mr Greenwood's horses at the meeting. Master Sylvia galloped so well at Patea on Easter Monday that nuftiy expect him to win a race at Trentham Mr T. J. Watt’s gelding Cheddar is one of the popular selections for the Thoninson Handicap. He won the Autumn Handicap at Riccarton under 6st 121b in very fast time, and to-morrow will have 81b more to carry. The son of Merriwee and Brown Alice is in excellent condition. The tracks were on the heavy side at Trentham on Tuesday morning, when Effort pulled up very strong after running four furlongs in 53 l-ssec. The chestnut is in capital racing trim. Cheddar and Montiform were companions in a six furlongs gallop, the last four being left behind in 51 2-ssec. The former had a trifle the better of the argument at the finish.

Sharpshooter (Chapman) and Madam Madcap (F. E. Jones) ran a very serviceable seven furlongs, with a brush home from the half-mile post, Madam Madcap having an advantage of a neck at the finish. This pair arc very fit and should run very prominently. Gipsy Belle (H. Telford) moved very freely over a circuit and appeared to relish the going, pulling up very fresh. This mare is in capital condition and the track suited her admirably, as she is partial to soft ground. Royal Scotch, from, a flying start, ran four furlongs in SOsecs. Owners and trainers arc Requested to note that in consequence of the Egmont Racing Club having put their winter meeting back a week—to the 17th and 18th May—from the 'dates originally selected, the Wanganui Club have altered the date for the declaration of weights for the hack events at their meeting to Friday, the 19tli May, and acceptances for all the first day’s events will close on Monday, the 22nd May, ins tead of May 17th.
